Meet Maddy Hickman, a core volunteer for Mentor Me Learning and local photographer!

.

.

✨What are you passionate about?

“I am passionate about photography, specifically in nature, and also traveling."

.

.

✨What does “mentoring” mean to you?

“Mentoring to me means passing on what you’ve learned to someone else, to help others grow."

.

.

✨How are you staying connected with others?

“I am staying connected through social media and the phone in general, texting and facetiming friends and loved ones."

.

.

✨Is there someone in your life who has been a mentor to you in an unexpected way?

“Both of my parents have been mentors. They’ve worked hard to build their own business and support my family. They are kind to others constantly and would help anyone in need."

.

.

✨What is one positive thing you’ve seen come out of the challenges we have all been facing during 2020?

“A positive thing I’ve seen come out of 2020 is that we’ve come together, and also realized that there are a lot of things in life that don’t matter. And we’re now focusing more on the things that do."

.

.

What other small businesses/nonprofits do you admire?

Drains to Oceans is another nonprofit I support and I like to go to local coffee shops like Bo’s & Bagelmania." . . Why are you choosing to give your time to be a part of Mentor Me Learning?

"I choose to be a part of Mentor Me because I believe in what they are advocating for. I love the way that they empower the youth to make changes for the better, for a better future."
